EDUCATION – ACADEMIC DEVELOPMENT:

Supporting education, academic growth, and lifelong leaning within the Sudanese community.

The Education and Academic Development Department works to support learning and educational growth within the Sudanese community. One of its key initiatives is the Weekend School, which provides children with the opportunity to learn the Qur’an, Arabic language, and Sudanese culture, history, and heritage. Through these programs, younger generations remain connected to their roots while building knowledge, confidence, and a strong cultural identity.

In addition to children’s education, the department focuses on academic guidance for youth and students. It provides support with college and university applications, scholarship opportunities, and educational planning—especially for newly arrived students who may need help navigating the American education system.

The department also helps connect students and graduates with academic and professional opportunities by sharing information about graduate studies, training programs, and scholarship opportunities. Workshops and guidance sessions assist community members in preparing professional resumes (CVs), documenting work experience, and developing effective strategies for job applications and career advancement.

Through mentoring programs, academic workshops, and collaboration with professionals within the community, the department aims to encourage knowledge-sharing, lifelong learning, and long-term academic success.
